Tom joined JRCT in 2025, having worked in peacebuilding since 2006 with the Oxford Research Group, Saferworld, Oxfam, American Friends Service Committee, Concordis International and Trocaire. Tom’s prior experience includes advocacy, policy and program support to both international and local peacebuilding initiatives, though his main motivation has been to support grassroots peacebuilders who live and work in situations of endemic violence. Tom lived in Southeast Asia for ten years before returning to his native Yorkshire and has experience working in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Somalia and Sudan. He has a BA in Philosophy, an MA in Peace Studies and is a member of the Civil Mediation Council and Association of Northern Mediators. He enjoys hiking, live music and popular science.
